The goal was to provide aid organizations with a clear picture of the destruction and identify areas that required immediate attention. Despite some initial technical challenges, including cloud cover obstructing the view, the team was able to process the satellite images and deliver essential data to aid groups.

AI Spotlight: OpenAI has announced plans to raise up to $40 billion in a new funding round, led by SoftBank, to advance its AI research, enhance computational infrastructure, and improve its tools. This funding is aimed at boosting OpenAI's capabilities, particularly as it seeks to serve its growing user base of 500 million people using ChatGPT weekly. The funding will come in two installments, with SoftBank contributing the majority. However, the deal is contingent on OpenAI restructuring into a for-profit entity by the end of the year.
